San Fransisco, one of the best cities to visit in America.

San Francisco such an amazing city with Alcatraz, the Golden Gate Bridge, steep hills,  tram’s and sea lions in the harbor.

Everything looks nice and clean, some parts are so immaculate it looks almost like walking in Universal Studios. The shopping area is very compact but fantastic with a mixture of top designers shops and big discount warehouses. The port area is very colorful and a great place for lunches, walks and drinks. On the other side of the Golden Gate Bridge you have some beautiful seaside towns that you must visit, I have been to Sausalito with a tour bus and had a lovely lunch in restaurant Trident overlooking the water.

I have also rented a bike and biked from San Francisco town over the Golden Gate Bridge to Tiburon via Sausalito, and took the ferry back from Tiburon into San Francisco town. It’s about 28 km up and down, its’ a pretty long ride  but if you are in good condition you will be ok, it’s a lovely ride if the weather is good. At the end of  Sausalito port you find 500 multicolored houseboats. I do recommend you have a stroll around and check out the area.

Where to stay
Hilton

Comfortable hotel in great location for a reasonable price. The rooms are very spacious, beds very comfortable and I loved the fact they had a juicer on the breakfast buffet. It’s right in the center in between the port, union square and shopping district.

Where to eat
The Cheesecake Factory

This place is busy and fun and has a great menu. If you look for something romantic or exclusive I would not recommend this place as it’s a big restaurant and always busy. They also have a terrace with a great view over Union Square. I do recommend the Thai lettuce wraps absolutely delicious and so healthy.

E Tutto Qua

Italian restaurant with home-made pasta’s and a great selection of sauces, pizza’s and meat dishes. They also have gluten-free pasta. They recommended me the  pasta with truffle sauce ( their special family recipe) and it was fantastic, the sauce was so delicious, I would order that over and over again. They also have a meat dish with this sauce. The service was great, the staff fun and friendly. Great place for a fun casual dinner.

Trident

Perfect location in Sausalito, overlooking the water,  I loved the Quinoa salad and they serve gluten-free bread, they also have a great cocktail menu.

Hollywood cafe

A great American breakfast place . If you love pancakes and fruit, then this is the right place, they serve about anything you can think of for breakfast and the portions are huge. We where struggling with our portions but needed it for our 3 hour bike ride. If you are not to hungry or a small eater then I do recommend you share.

Drinks

Redwood room

For a stylish after dinner cocktail we loved the redwood room in the Clift hotel, one of the most stylish cocktail bars in town. I love the decor and the moving wall art.
